About Quillroll
Quillroll is a solitaire roll-and-write game on a parchment notebook: a dice game you play with a pen. Every turn three dice are rolled: choose one and write its number in a cell of a 6×6 sheet, building staircases of consecutive numbers before the twelve turns run out.
Like the roll and write board games it comes from, every sheet is a small puzzle of risk and planning. Each sheet is generated from a five-character code, so the same code always gives the same layout and the same dice. Pass a code to a friend and compare scores on the very same sheet.
- Tap a die and then a cell, or drag the die onto it; it goes next to a cell that is already written, and the very first number can go anywhere
- Neighbouring cells (not diagonal) whose numbers differ by exactly 1 form a staircase. It scores its length squared, so one long staircase is worth far more than two short ones
- Five kinds of ground: meadow, forest (counts double in a staircase), water (nothing can be written), rock (takes only a 6 and adds +4) and villages (linked villages earn +10 each)
- Circles of ink mark your staircases, and the score is updated after every turn
- Sheet of the day: everyone plays the same sheet, with a record for each sheet and a count of the days in a row
- Trails: a campaign of 30 sheets in three regions, each with bronze, silver and gold star goals; stars open the next region
- Special rules on many sheets: mighty rocks, deep woods, busy villages, a lakeside bonus, a loaded die, two or four dice per turn, a bonus for long climbs
- Type a friend’s code to play their sheet, or roll a new random one
- One undo and one reroll of the dice on every sheet; if nothing fits, discard the turn for −3 points
- Star goals come from simulated players that test every sheet
- An illustrated rules page, hand-drawn sheets, bone dice, a scratching pen and soft sounds; sound and vibration can be switched off
- Available in 10 languages
A single-player board game in your pocket: a sheet takes five minutes, and the sheet of the day gives everyone the same dice to compete on.
Quillroll shows ads: a banner on the menu and on the Trails map, and an ad after you close a finished sheet, never during play. Videos are always your choice: watch one to get an extra reroll. Optional purchases: no ads; Wild lands, a pack of marsh, ice and volcano terrains with rules of their own, an extra region of 10 sheets and use in random sheets; and a pack of 10 rerolls.
